The Coombes is a woodland area designated as a Local Wildlife Site and as a Local Geological Site. It offers varied walking including dense woodland and open vistas with a whole network of footpaths.
Barkham Parish Council has initiated a project to encourage the use of footpaths in and around the parish. As a first step, two new walking roues have been created, The Coombes Circular Walk and the Barkham Way running from Barkham Road to Rooks Nest Wood. It is intended to provide improved signposts and way markers in due course.
For a longer walk around the Borough, try the Wokingham Way, 55 miles roughly following the borough boundary, split into 10 easy sections. Instructions can be downloaded here.
